This is not exactly news but I wanted to post this anyway to thank someone that has really helped me:)
I have this really cool friend that has helped me out more than I thought was ever possible. I don't even think that SHE knows how much she has done for me and my family. But I wanted to thank her for her very good advise and help that she has given to me selflessly for the last couple of months. Please check out her List of Paying Surveys. Everything is free and from what I understand you can make a pretty decent amount of cash by doing them. Some of them are a lot of fun as well. Some pay cash and some put you into a cool drawing. So check them out!

Missing New York Teacher Found
I don't know how many of you have been watching the status of the missing NYC teacher that has been missing since August 29th. Her belongings were found by her roommate and she was to begin teaching at a school that she taught at last year. She apparently was spotted in an Apply Computer store while she was looking at her email. Well today she apparently tried to commit suicide by jumping off of a bridge but was saved by a boat crew. She had a pulse but was unconscious at the time but is expected to recover. I am so glad that she was found. I am sure that her family is upset at what she tried to do today, but glad to know that they still have a chance to save their loved one.

I miss Bernie Mack!
I was so saddened when I heard about Bernie Mack's untimely death. I love his TV show. I think he actually portrays a great dad and even though I am a mom, I find myself acting and thinking a lot of the same things that he does in his shows. I am actually sitting here watching a few of his shows on FX. I had actually forgotten how good the show was. It really saddens me that there will be no more new shows with him in it.

New Cold War?
Well, it looks like the world doesn't have to worry about the world heating up because it is getting colder between Russia and other Nato nations especially the US. President Bush just canceled a celebrated bill that was sent to congress back in may on civilian nuclear cooperation. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has recently stated that he is not afraid of a new cold war.
I personally believe that it is more of a fight for oil then anything else. And that Russia is the big gorilla beating his chest. How does that song go? Oh yea "That don't impress me much".

Casey Anthony back to jail
Well thank God Casey Anthony is back in Jail. She has been rearrested after making bail earlier this month. She was arrested on fraudulent check charges. Apparently she wrote a few checks on her friends checking account. I can't believe that they still haven't found at least the body of this precious little girl. I have a boy one year younger (actually shares her birthday) that sort of reminds me of her. How can anyone go a month without reporting her child missing? Why didn't she just give the little girl to the grandparents? It appears that she had lots of family support from them and she still did something ie. gave her away, sold her or killed her.
I hope they find her soon because it makes my heart ache just thinking about it.

Great VP pick!
Well I don't know what you guys think, but I think that Senator McCain picked an excellent VP candidate! She is just as conservative as he is liberal. Yes I think that he is a liberal. I think that a lot of the times he should be a democrat but I really do look up to him as a former POW of something like 5 years. Do I think he is a little bit "off" yes I do, who could have gotten through something so awful as what he went through with out being a little off? Is he my pick for president? Yeah, seeing it's him or Obama. I also think that Palin is going to do a lot of damage to Hilary's future campaign for President in the next 4 or 8 years depending on who gets elected this time around. I'm really glad to see a pretty, smart, tomboy (but not lesbian) come into the picture. She has been a beauty queen, and off shore fisherman, stay at home mom, mayor of a small town... I think that she represents a lot of American women. They definitely have my vote!

A one, two punch!
Hanna
Gustov
Wow, I guess we are going to be getting a 1, 2 and a 3rd punch this hurrican season. We JUST got rid of Fay and now Gustov is causing mandatory evacuations in New Orleans and thats not all, now we also have Hanna to deal with as well. The cone looks like Fay soaked Florida my get it again! I think that it's so strange how some years there are no hurricanes in the area of Florida and then some years it feels like we are getting hit with them all. I am praying for the people of New Orleans as well. I could not imagine living in an area that is under sea level like that and is reliant on levies that did not hold up the last time. I would feel like a sitting duck to tell you the truth because who is to say that the levies might not fail just because. May not take as much as a hurricane.

Stem Cells from Wisdom Teeth
Wow!This is a first for me. I have heard that you can obtain stem cells from umbilical cord blood and from blood from a woman's cycle and of course from unborn babies (which I do not like at all). But now the Japanese have found a way to obtain them from non other than wisdom teeth. How cool is that? And the sample that was tested was from a 10 year old who's tooth had been placed in a freezer for 3 years. Maybe I should wait to get my 4 wisdom teeth pulled?

Yoda Cat
I thought that I would do a more lighthearted post today. There is a cat from Illinois that has four ear flaps and of course his name is Yoda. I think that is so cute! I have called my cat that before as well because he is a black cat that *bottle fed him from 1 day old* that has ears probably a little more on the side of his head then some cats. So cute! Anyway, this cat has four ear flaps and is the cutest little guy! It is a genetic abnormality and all the vets that have checked him out say that he is okay. The owners have gotten him chipped so that he doesn't get stolen and keep him inside as well.
When I was growing up I had a friend that has a kitten that had two faces. It did not survive though but I did get to see it while it was still alive which was really creepy and cool at the same time.
I would love to have this cat! Wouldn't you?

Free Screenings for Skin Cancer
Free screenings for skin cancer.
If you don't have health insurance and can't afford to go get screened for skin cancer, this is a good resource for you. There are physician's around the country that volunteer their time to do free screenings. We are lucky enough to have health insurance but if we didn't have it, I would go and make my husband go as well as he had a lot of skin cancer in his family.
Hope this is a benefit to someone out there.

Surfer's Myelopathy
Wow I just found out about this syndrome that affects first time surfers. The name of it is Surfer's Myelopathy. So not only do surfers have to watch out for rocks, drowning or the occasional shark but they also have this to also be concerned about. Apparently when a surfer arches their back while laying on their stomach they are cutting off blood in the blood vessels. This in some cases can actually crimp a vessel which in turn can paralyze the surfer. Most people do not know about it. Apparently the sooner that a surfer gets to the hospital following a possible problem, the better their chances of getting better. The signs are having problems urinating and problems walking.
